Ground State Wavepackets in Pump-Probe Spectroscopy
نویسنده
چکیده
We discuss the pump-probe signals expected from ground state wavepackets. The concept of a 'pure hole' is examined. The temporal form of the signals can be qualitatively predicted from the pump and probe wavelengths and pulse durations using the classical Franck principle. Temperature is found to play an important role. These considerations are illustrated with quant urn mechanical calculations of the iodine ground state transient dichroism signal.

Femtosecond Wavepacket Spectroscopy: Influence of Temperature, Wavelength, and Pulse Duration
We discuss pump-probe signals from the wavepackets which are simultaneously generated on both the ground and excited electronic states by weak optical pulses shorter in duration than a vibrational period. A classical model of localized ground state bleaching and excited state population of the internuclear geometries where the photon energy matches the electronic energy gap predicts the pump an...
متن کاملHigh-contrast pump-probe spectroscopy with high-order harmonics
The high order harmonic generation process from molecules can be used to probe the structure of the emitting medium with high spatial resolution [1,2]. The measurements of molecular dynamics with such a probe is thus very appealing. Contrast is an important issue in pump probe spectroscopy: in general the probe only excites part of the molecules, so that the detected signal can be dominated by ...
متن کاملOptimal pump–dump control and time-frequency resolved spectroscopy of ground-state wave-packet focusing
The theory of optimal control together with that of transient probe absorption spectroscopy are applied for control and detection of molecular wave packet dynamics in the weak response regime. We obtain a globally optimal pump–dump control field which drives the initial state to the predefined target, focused at the inner-turning point region of the electronic ground state potential. As for the...
متن کاملTime-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy of wavepackets through a conical intersection in NO2.
We report the results of theoretical studies of the time-resolved femtosecond photoelectron spectroscopy of quantum wavepackets through the conical intersection between the first two (2)A' states of NO(2). The Hamiltonian explicitly includes the pump-pulse interaction, the nonadiabatic coupling due to the conical intersection between the neutral states, and the probe interaction between the neu...

A formalism is presented for a novel fifth-order spectroscopy designed to measure the spectrum of nuclear modes coupled to photoinduced processes. In this description of polarizability response spectroscopy, a two-level system first interacts (twice) with an electronically resonant laser pulse to create ground and excited state wavepackets that evolve until the polarizability spectrum is probed...
